PHILOSOPHY
Fundamentals Academy is a licensed, in-home, bilingual, play-based childcare. Our vision is that all kids will acquire an admiration and love for learning a new language through play and academics. We will provide a positive, safe, and supportive family environment where kids and staff focus on play, learning, and growing.
At FUNdamentals Academy we place the highest value on authentic foundational experiences, emphasizing the basic learning of a new language, nature, play, storytelling, science, and visual and performing arts.
Children will learn respect for themselves and the diverse world in which we all live while developing a moral perception that will help build integrity.

LANGUAGE LEARNING
We all know how difficult it is to learn a foreign language as an adult. There is so much research that encourages us to teach multiple languages from a young age. From about birth to 3 years old, our children are at the perfect age for receiving new language information.
In addition to the obvious benefit of learning the foundation of an additional language, multiple language exposure can also promote higher self-esteem, increased social-emotional skills, improves memory, makes it easier for them to learn additional languages, and enhances creativity and problem-solving skills.
At Fundamentals Academy, we will read books, and poems, sing songs, and introduce new vocabulary in both English and Spanish.
NATURE
Being outdoors is imperative for the mental and physical well-being of our children.
At Fundamentals Academy, we spend time outdoors almost every day! We have a beautiful and spacious outdoor area with plenty of items to exercise our gross motor skills.

Children will have rainboots that are kept at school. There is a no-shoe rule in the classroom. Children are welcome to bring slippers or grippy socks so they can keep cozy while eliminating germs.
At Fundamentals Academy, we believe in exploratory play. Please don’t send your children in nice clothing as they will get dirty and messy.

PLAY
Playing makes your child smarter! Children learn as they play and play is their favorite way of learning.
At Fundamentals Academy, we encourage child-led play. Our play materials are open-ended which allows children to engage in real-life scenarios and safely express themselves.
Play helps our children solve problems and boosts their creativity. Play allows the children to release any frustrations they may have and reduces stress.
SCIENCE
At FUNdamentals Academy, we love engaging in simple and creative science experiments. It’s so much FUN the kids don’t even know they are learning.
Science is all around us and can be explored in numerous ways. Some of our favorite activities are learning about the chemical reaction of baking soda and vinegar, sink or float, and the butterfly lifecycle. Every year we raise the butterflies and release them!
VISUAL & PERFORMING ARTS
Children can escape into their imaginations through art. The arts can promote self-esteem and self-expression. They can harness their creativity and can help children improve their focus and build their fine motor skills.
At Fundamentals Academy, we encourage arts of all kinds. We love to dress up, sing, dance, and put on little performances for each other. The kids have access to and love exploring different mediums to enhance their creativity.
