Chessa Moreno
Founder/Director/Teacher
Chessa was born and raised in Pennsylvania where she always had a love of children and teaching littles. From a young age, she was babysitting and volunteered at the Children’s museum in her hometown.
In 2011 Chessa graduated from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish and a minor in Biology. While attending University, Chessa was a volunteer teacher at C.A.P.E. (Children Actively Protecting the Environment), where she would create Biology lessons, games, and activities for the children. Chessa was also an active participant in the Big Brother, Big Sister program where she mentored young children. She also tutored foster children from local schools of all ages and backgrounds.
After getting married and having children, Chessa was inspired by her daughters and her husband, who has a Doctorate in Education, to go into childcare. Chessa wanted a way to stay home with her children while still using her Spanish degree and love of teaching, thus FUNdamentals Academy was born. She then studied Early Childhood Education at Napa Valley College.
Chessa firmly believes in learning through play, and in the importance of every child learning or being introduced to multiple languages from a young age. These practices are implemented each day at FUNdamentals Academy.
Chessa lives with her husband, Eduardo, and is a mother to two beautiful girls, Emma and London. Chessa firmly believes that early childhood education should be a magical time in a child’s life and she is so grateful to assist in that process for future generations to come.
